The next phase of the development of the corner of 7th and 3rd is on the cards. We have been provided with the impression of the new scheme, which in effect flanks all four boundaries of the site.


After consultation with our planner, Les Oakenful, as well as residents on the north side of 6th avenue who will be affected, we have reached the following conclusions:


  1. Overall, the increased capacity for both business and retail acivity should preclude any further large developments in our suburb.
  2. The overall 2-storey height limit is acceptable.
  3. However, the 2-storey structures directly overlooking 6th avenue residents are unacceptable to us and to those affected.
  4. With this in mind we should be prepared to re-arrange the bulk so as to reduce the southern structure to a single storey.
  5. Having learnt from affected residents of the noise pollution of air-conditioning units above ground we would like to negotiate a re-positioning of all service installations where they can generate an acceptable noise level for residents.
